What’s inside a Fuse box?
Main Switch – this allows you to turn off the electricity supply to your home. It’s important that you know where this switch is so that you can switch off the electricity in an emergency. Some properties have more than one mains switch if there is more than one fuse board e.g. if you have electric storage heaters running off Economy 7 you will have a separate fuse board for this.
Our MCB’s are safer as they’re more accurately able to judge the amp size before flicking, whereas fuses can sometimes handle more current than they’re supposed to. We supply are fitted with RCD (residual current devices). These are safer because they will shut down entire sections of the electricity in your sockets if they sense an imbalance in the current — from power-hungry devices such as storage heaters.
